Four Ways to Motivate Employees and Increase Productivity

Being motivated means you want to get something done and achieve a specific goal. In fact, motivation is essential when building new habits and improving your outlook on life.

Many successful people visualize their success every morning, this is a form of motivation as it drives them to complete the task in hand.

In addition, motivating employees will help to ensure they are working harder, this will increase their productivity and boost your bottom line.

But, you need to take the right steps to motivate your employees.

Fortunately, this is easier than you think:

  1. Team Building

These two words can drive fear into the hearts of many employees. But, done properly, corporate team building can actually be fun; you don’t need to choose the adrenaline-fuelled activities.

Murder mysteries, trust exercises, or traditional treasure hunts, are all great ways of involving all your employees. It will also allow each team member to display their strengths and weaknesses, this will help other employees to make a note of these and ask the right person when they need advice.

In fact, with a little imagination you can think outside of the box and use the team building experience as a great way to find out about the past, while bonding. Check out the 7 perfect places to see dinosaurs in and around NYC to really give your team a thrill!

Providing team building is fun the employees will be talking about it for days in the office, amplifying the motivation and productivity effect.

  1. Staff Decisions

Employees need to feel that their role is important and makes a difference. The best way to do this is to give your staff the opportunity to make decisions themselves.

The bigger the decision that they need to make the more each employee will feel like an important part of the company.

You should also be aware that, in many cases, the employees will have a better idea of what needs to be done to resolve an issue. After all, they are the ones that work with the issue every day.

This approach will also give you staff the freedom to decide their own working methods, you’ll be surprised at just how effective this is.

  1. Break Times

In the digital age, it is more important than ever for staff to have regular breaks from their screens. But, it doesn’t actually matter which job your employees do. Giving them enough break time will help them to feel more motivated and productive.

  1. Collaboration

It may seem surprising but employees can work in the same office and actually work together very little. The reason is generally that they don’t know each and their jobs don’t necessarily overlap.

However, if you make sure there are projects that need collaboration and encourage your employees to volunteer for these roles, you’ll find that they gain a better understanding of each other. The result is better collaboration in the future, this builds an understanding of each other and the projects being undertaken.

Even when they are not working on a project together, employees will start to bounce ideas off each other, helping them to find the best and most efficient answer to any issue.

In short, you’ll motivate your employees and improve their productivity.

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
