4 Tips For Balancing Family And Work

September 14, 2020 by Annie

The American dream, for many, consists of having a family, a successful job, amd also having time to enjoy the good things in life. However, it isn’t always as easy as you might like to think. Finding a balance for everything combined can be difficult for some parents.

However, the good news is that there are ways to balance all these without losing your mind. There can still be room for marketing your business, having food on the table, and being able to enjoy one on one time with your family. Take a look at some of the best tips for finding a balance between family and work.

Plan Ahead

One of the most important factors in balancing anything in life is making sure that you plan ahead. By scheduling your week in advance, you can be sure that you don’t fall behind or find yourself overwhelmed.

Plan your tasks in advance by creating a plan for each day of the week. Whether it’s taking the kids to soccer practice or having a date night, treat each task as if it were as important as a doctor’s appointment that you can’t miss.

Prioritize

Even though you might love your downtime in the evenings when you get to watch your favorite show or read a book, you may have to eliminate that for a while. If you truly want to prioritize work and family, you may have to eliminate moments spent doing nothing.

Each moment counts when it comes to finding time for family and work in your life. Whether you’re sitting in traffic or having your morning cup of coffee, use this time to get work out of the way.

Plan Meals in Advance

Most parents can agree that one of the most difficult parts of having a job and family is meal time. It’s not always easy to get home from a long day of work and find inspiration for what you’ll make. It helps to plan ahead and know what you’re going to cook. You may even want to consider prepping your meals in advance.

By prepping meals ahead of time, you’ll eliminate the rush at dinner time. It’s as easy as reheating and serving everything up. Another perk to prepping your food ahead of time is that you can use the time you would be cooking to spend chatting with your family.

Leave Work At The Office

Even though your job plays a significant role in your day to day life, it can be obnoxious to come home and start talking about what you did at work. Rather than forcing your family to listen to all of your office trauma, make a commitment to leave your job at the office. When you’re home, your conversation should be focused on and related to family life, not talking about work.

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
