6 Essential Items for Expecting Parents

Expecting your first child is as nerve-racking as it is exciting.

The truth is, you aren’t going to know how to parent until the baby comes and you actually have to do it. No matter how many things you read or classes you participate in, it’s really a thing where you learn on the job.

That being said, it is helpful to prepare for the baby’s arrival by stocking your house full of those crucial parenting items. In this post, we’re going to tell you 6 of the most essential items for expecting parents. Get these on your baby gift registry and you’ll be able to figure out the rest.

1. Milk Bottles

The list of things you need to get to take care of an infant is long, including things like diapers, wipes, clothes, and bibs. Those are the kinds of items that you should be throwing on an Amazon baby registry so that you’re well-stocked and don’t have to think about it.

One thing you can’t forget is milk bottles and if you’re breastfeeding, a pump. If you want to go all out, you can even purchase a bottle warmer for those first few months when you’re getting up in the middle of the night to feed them.

2. Crib and Crib Sheets

Having a good crib can actually make a big difference in whether the baby sleeps or not. That being said, they can get up there in price and the difference between a budget-friendly one and a top-of-the-line one might not be of major consequence.

Don’t forget to get some mattress pads and waterproof liners to prolong the life of the mattress. You’ll need several sets of sheets as well.

3. Stroller and Car Seat

You’ll want to take your baby out for good walks, especially when the sun’s out. Professionals at LuxuryStrollers advise that you do yourself a favor and spend some time trying out different strollers before you buy one. If you live in a big city and take public transit, something compact and versatile will be a must.

For drivers, a car seat will be of utmost importance as well. You can even get a combination stroller/car seat for maximum versatility.

4. Activity Mat

Babies love rolling around on the floor and looking at whatever’s in front of them. Having a little baby gym will keep them entertained while you make dinner, clean up, or just take a load off.

5. Monitor

A baby monitor is something that’ll keep your mind at ease while your child is asleep, but it can also help you track your baby’s sleep patterns. How the child sleeps has a huge effect on your quality of life, so the more you can do to improve sleep habits, the better.

6. Bath Supplies

There are all sorts of bath supplies that you can get, but for a newborn, you should focus on a tub that can support its head. Because they grow so fast, you’ll only have it for the first few months, but it’ll make bath time much easier.

Growing List for Expecting Parents

These are a few crucial items for expecting parents that should help you during those first few weeks and months with your baby. In truth, you’ll find new things that you need to buy every single day with your newborn. Parenting is a daily learning process, but if you have the right supplies and people helping you, it won’t be so hard.

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
