February 11, 2020 by Annie

If you love seeing the look on your dog’s face when you feed it a treat, it’s well worth continuing reading in order to discover some of the best treats which you can feed your dog. When it comes to purchasing treats for your precious pooch, it’s a smart idea to learn more about what is out there and opt for dog treats which are both easy and healthy.

The Best Kind of Treats For Your Dog:

Rawhide:

Not only can rawhide straighten and clean your dog’s teeth but chewing on small pieces of dog friendly rawhide can also help keep your dog’s digestive system regular. If you’re interested in finding the best rawhide snacks for your dog, make sure to learn more about some of the top rawhide brands which are currently available.

Jerky treats:

Did you know that you can buy beef jerky and chicken jerky which is made specifically for dogs? Dogs love beef and chicken jerky as not only is it packed full of flavor but dogs always love chewing and jerky is incredibly chewy.

If you love the idea of making your own homemade jerky, you’re in luck as all you need to prepare safe jerky for your dog is skinless chicken or flank steak, peanut butter and soy sauce. Alternatively, you can also prepare DIY jerky for your dogs using flank steak, gluten free soy, lean chicken breast and apple cider.

Alternatively, if you’d like to serve your dog more vegetables, you can also prepare homemade sweet potato jerky for your dog. All you’ll need to create sweet potato is to cut your sweet potato into thin strips which you’ll be able to bake at 225 degrees Fahrenheit for 3-4 hours.

Peanut butter popsicles:

After a long walk during the warm, hot summer months, it’s a fun idea to serve your dog a homemade peanut butter popsicle. To prepare dog friendly peanut butter popsicles, mix one cup of peanut butter with half a mashed banana and some water. Mix your ingredients and pour them into a regular popsicle mold and wait for your popsicles to freeze.

Just be careful to let your popsicles sit outside your freezer for 2 minutes, before you serve a peanut butter popsicle to your hungry dog. To ensure that you’re not giving your dog a popsicle which is too cold.

Fresh fruits and vegetables:

Just as fruits and vegetables are healthy for humans, a limited amount of fruits and vegetables can provide your dog with essential vitamins and nutrients. Just be sure to select fruits and vegetables which are safe for dogs to consume.

Some examples of fruits and vegetables which make safe, dog friendly snacks include blueberries, carrots and apples. If you choose to feed your dog apples as a snack just be sure to cut your apple’s core and seeds out as they are not safe for dogs to consume.

If you want to ensure that your dog maintains a healthy diet but still love seeing your dog’s face light up when you feed it delicious snacks, it’s well worth testing out some of the healthy, dog friendly snacks which are listed above.

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
