Types of Dog Training in Phoenix AZ

September 24, 2021 by Annie

Most dog owners focus primarily on obedience when it comes to dog training. However, there are many different dog training options available that dog owners can choose from. Each of these dog training techniques has its unique concepts.

What is Dog Training?

Dog training is a process used by dog owners to teach dogs obedience commands. The idea behind dog training is to teach the dog what behaviors are good and evil. The training process usually starts with teaching the dog basic obedience commands such as sitting and staying.

The training continues to advance until you can control your dog during everyday situations, such as walking on a leash without pulling away and coming when called.

Types of Dog Training

When dog owners begin to look into dog training, the first thing they do is search for local dog trainers. Dog training with dog trainers is an excellent way for you as a dog owner to learn how to train your dog, mainly because of the trainer. Dog training in Phoenix AZ comprises of different types of training techniques that you can choose from. The types of training are;

Agility Training

One of the dog training techniques is agility training. This training will teach your dog to maneuver through obstacles such as tunnels and ramps with speed and accuracy. As the dog learns these obstacle courses, they gain confidence and become very focused during the dog training sessions.

Agility training is fun for you and the dog. It also provides a good workout session. In addition, dog obedience commands such as sit and stay are used throughout the process, making agility training an excellent way to blend both dog training techniques.

Protection Training

Another type of training is dog protection training. The training involves teaching your dogs to guard specific areas or surrounding areas from strangers and other animals. If you own large pieces of property, you will need to use this type of training as a way to keep your properties safe from unwanted intruders.

Protection training is a great way to teach dogs to protect themselves and the people they live with from intruders. In addition, you need to remember that this type of dog training does not make a dog aggressive towards humans. Instead, it teaches your dog to stay in between you and any other humans or animals that are an intruder into your territory.

Clicker Training

This training involves using a plastic device called a “clicker” to signal to your dog that they have performed the desired behavior. Once you teach the dog this obedience command, they will learn to repeat those behaviors when prompted with the clicker.

In clicker training, you will need to teach your dog that the clicking sound from the clicker means that an obedience command, usually the “sit” command, is about to follow. Once your dog knows this dog obedience command, you can begin any dog training. You will need to stock up on dog treats since your dog will be getting a treat immediately after.

Scientific Training

This training technique is based on scientific dog training theories. This technique has an excellent objective; to create a dog that understands and obeys its owner.

Scientific dog training usually begins with you teaching the dog an obedience command like sit or stay. Once the dog learns this command, they begin learning how to walk on a leash without pulling away.

Dog owners who use this type of dog training like it because it is easy and effective. In addition, you do not need to stick with one training technique consistently when using this method. Instead, you can alternate between different training techniques depending upon your dog’s needs at that time.

Dog training in Phoenix, AZ is an often-neglected and misunderstood topic. Educating dog owners about dog obedience training benefits their dog and those around them; it can result in a more harmonious dog household. It is okay to get professional trainers to help train your doctor. The time allocated and sacrificed for the training sessions will be worth it in the end.

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
