Quick Vacation Work Out Ideas

December 14, 2017 by Annie

If you travel on a frequent basis and are committed to maintaining or improving your current level of fitness, simply continue reading to discover a variety of quick and easy work out ideas.

5 Quick Vacation Work Out Ideas:

High-intensity jump rope session

If your hotel or resort boasts outdoor space, it’s well worth packing an inexpensive jump rope. For every 10 minute session which you complete, you’ll burn 100 calories. So if you complete, three, ten-minute sessions in a single day, you’ll burn 300 calories. If your hotel or resort lacks outdoor space, simply walk to a nearby park to complete your high-intensity jump rope session.

7 Minute HIT workout

If you want to tick off a workout as quickly as possible, to give yourself more time to relax or sunbathe, it’s well worth downloading a 7 minute HIT workout app on your smartphone. A 7 minute HIT workout will contain a variety of challenging exercises. Examples of which include side planks, lunges, push-ups, squats and jumping jacks. Typically you’ll complete each exercise for 30 seconds straight, before taking a 10-second rest, before your next exercise.

Swimming

If you choose to stay at a resort or hotel which boasts a pool, it’s well worth taking a dip as if you swim for 30 minutes, you should be able to burn between 200-350 calories. Depending on your weight and how fast you swim. So if you’re looking to maintain your current level of fitness and are looking for a fun way to workout on vacation, it’s well worth booking accommodation at a hotel or resort which boasts a pool.

Running

While you could run on a treadmill in your hotel’s gym, there’s no better way to get acquainted with a new city than by exploring it by foot. So set the phone on your alarm to wake you up early in the morning and lace up your sneakers. If you’re not sure where to run, simply download an app like Run Keeper, which will allow you to select one of numerous routes, which will start from your hotel or resort. Alternatively, it’s well worth searching Google maps for a local park, lake or beach to visit for your daily run.

Hotel room work out

If you’d prefer to workout in the privacy of your hotel room, simply connect your laptop or smartphone to your hotel’s WiFi and visit YouTube. Where you’ll find an endless amount of free work out videos. If you’re looking for a bit of workout inspiration, you may want to search for Yoga or Pilates videos, which you can complete by placing a towel on the floor. Instead of using a traditional Yoga or Pilates mat. If you prefer a higher intensity workout, simply opt for a Zumba routine.

So if you travel frequently and are serious about maintaining your current level of fitness, it’s well worth utilizing the 5 work out ideas listed above to ensure that you stay in tip-top shape. After all, it’s far harder to build up fitness than to maintain it, so it’s well worth fitting a few workouts into your vacation itinerary!

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
